The University of Ljubljana’s Faculty of Social Sciences, in partnership with the United Nations Association of Slovenia, is organising Academia Aestiva Internationalis Summer School, which will be entitled ‘Global Environmental Politics: Adaptation vs.
Mitigation’. It will be held between 1 – 8 July 2017 in Ljubljana, the Green Capital of Europe 2016. It will be attended by students, young volunteers, and activists aged between 18 and 30 years.
The Academia Aestiva Internationalis will highlight a number of most pressing topics regarding environmental policies, ranging from the most salient issues, legal perspectives, UN endeavours, pollution, renewable energy, to economic perspectives, and human rights. It will furthermore present environmental dimension of 2030 development agenda, and reflect on pollution and waste-management. Faced with complex multi-sectoral crises, the summer school will focus on deconstruction of environmental problems to the pure essence of theirs.
The attendees will be immersed into interactive lectures, participate in workshops, and lively debates, all of which will be conducted by professionals and experts with many references, and rich expertise in their respective fields of work and research. There is a possibility of earning 4 ECTS for participating in the Academia Aestiva Internationalis summer course.
There is no participation fee for Academia Aestiva Internationalis, and the organisers will provide accommodation co-financing for foreigners, coffee breaks, and free transportation around Ljubljana. There will also be an organized day trip covered by the organizers. Unfortunately, there are no scholarships available for traveling expenses.
Students, young volunteers, and activists are kindly invited to apply.
The deadline for the applications is 1 June 2017; the number of participants is limited. The applicants will be notified about selection by 10 June 2017.
